Now RBS, 83% owned by you and me. I found this joke on the web: Guess the odd one out: Lord Stevenson, former chairman, HBOS Bank Andy Hornby, former CEO, HBOS Bank Sir Fred Goodwin, former CEO, RBS Bank Sir Tom McKillup, former chairman, RBS Bank John McFall MP, chairman, Treasury Select Committee Alistair Darling, former Chancellor of the Exchequer Sir Terry Wogan, former presenter of the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show It’s Terry Wogan, the only one with a banking qualification. There is a plaque on the building (above and to the right of the yellow bin on the pavement, right) that reads: "The National Bank Limited - This branch was opened on 17th July 1882 and was the first joint stock bank in the Willesden district". The building behind was the bank manager's house and both buildings are locally listed and largely unaltered inside though the house has been converted to flats https://www.londonremembers.com/memorials/national-bank-ltd-nw10 . The plaque can be seen in the Streetview image https://goo.gl/maps/n3uKQZ3JRhHJGtZT7 ; there is also a lovely National Bank inscription above the main door https://goo.gl/maps/ocMsDyMXPzMAEdQT6 . It seems that the building is no longer a branch of RBS https://goo.gl/maps/cj2VBY4AYX6a5eCU8 . I am grateful to Alan Cooper for the above information (added in July 2020).
