Checkley: view towards Checkley Wood, south of the village. The pattern of dairy farms, poultry farms and some arable land (turnips, cereals) is relieved here by patches of mature woodland of which Checkley Wood (private) is one of the largest. This probably accounts for the large population of pheasants in the area!
