Named in memory of Lieutenant General Sir Horace Robertson, the barracks was purpose built for the Light Dragoons, formed in 1992 by the amalgamation of the 13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary’s Own) and the 15th/19th The Kings Royal Hussars. The Light Dragoons is a Formation Reconnaissance Regiment which locates and raids enemy targets, frequently behind enemy lines.
