A famous long established inn, believed to date from the around the beginning of the 16th century. The inn gets its name from its crown bowling green, which is one of the earliest or maybe the earliest in the country. The bowling club records go back to 1776, but earlier records were destroyed, and the green is much older than this date. The inn still provides accommodation so remains an inn in the traditional sense. Image
