The local name given to this section of the A27 that was straightened and widened in the 1960s. The old course ran along Wick Street and Burgh Lane whose junctions are visible on the left and right respectively. This stretch of the A27 along with that between Middle Farm and Selmeston is a notorious accident blackspot, the straight nature of the road sometimes persuading drivers they have time to overtake.
