Looking across the Market Place as it broadens from the High Street, which is along in the distance behind the lamppost. There can be few non-coastal towns which have sprawled so much in one direction from the town centre but not in the other. Ringwood's suburbs extend towards the east and yet, behind us, there is only a few hundred yards before we are in open countryside.
