Probably built in the later 19th century when much of the village was being rebuilt by the Hotham family, the chief landowner. Originally four houses remodelled as two in 1997. In the early part of the 20th century the trustees of Ann Watson's charity of Sutton on Hull bought farms and other properties in the area, so presumably these houses were owned by the charity at that time.
