Built (probably) at the time of the enclosure in the 1820s of the land around Burton Hall by the owner, Charles George Mundy as a replacement for the now enclosed village pond. It remained the main public water supply in Burton until 1949 when piped water was finally brought to the village. Restored in 2000. Listed Grade II.
