This textile mill was one of a series built by Richard Arkwright. Less well known than his famous mills on the Derwent at Cromford, it remains a fine and relatively unchanged example of a water powered mill. It has now been adapted for use as the JCB Academy and an archimedean screw generator has been added to produce 'green' energy.
