This post office is located, on the face of it, in an unlikely location with no obvious village to serve. It is within the grounds of Coton House, which is the Royal Mail's Management and Conference Centre a short distance from the village of Churchover. The post office opened on 6 July 1998 to replace the former office in Churchover village, and it is earmarked for permanent closure in early 2012. The postbox outside the office is a Victorian 'anonymous' box, so-called because the 'VR' cipher was omitted on these boxes manufactured during the period 1879-1883. This particular specimen was outside the Gorseinion Hospital in Swansea from 1959 to 1989 but suffered damage to its main body - upon restoration in 1991 it was donated to the Royal Mail college, roughly coinciding with the opening of the post office.
