Early 18th century house - the rainwater head at the top of the downpipe gives a date of 1723. Grade II listed - for listing particulars see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1173264. To the left of the shop front is Waxhouse Gate, also dating from the 18th century but with earlier origins, giving access to the Cathedral from the old medieval centre of St Albans.
