Elegant lodge at the entrance to the drive to the ruined Gwynfryn Plas. Gwynfryn was built in flamboyant style by Hugh John Ellis-Nanney, the local landowner, who was defeated in the parliamentary by-election of 1890 by the ambitious local solicitor David Lloyd George. Gwynfryn Plas is now a ruin after a fire in the 1980s destroyed the hotel it had become. http://www.welshruins.co.uk/photo3624305.html http://countryhouses.wordpress.com/2010/06/14/orphan-seeks-new-carers-plas-gwynfryn-gwynedd/
