View SW, towards Cheltenham, Gloucester and Bristol: ex- Midland Birmingham - Bristol main line. The express is headed by Stanier 5MT 4-6-0 No. 45273 (built 1936, withdrawn 9/67). Note the signals for the three-way junction at Ashchurch; the Goods yard is on the left (Down) side. A wintry scene on Christmas Eve, when many Reliefs were run, but note the many men working on the line.
