This interesting recent development provides compact holiday accommodation. Each 'hut' has a parking space and a private terrace overlooking the beach and Teignmouth harbour. The huts appear to be, in effect, a self-catering annexe to a nearby guest house http://www.shaldonbeachhuts.co.uk/www.shaldonbeachhuts.co.uk/Shaldon_Beach_Huts.html Formerly on the site was a 1960's building occupied by 'Brigantine', a chandlery that is said to have become unviable due to internet purchasing. The empty building was unlovely and unlettable. Shaldon Parish Council opposed the development but Teignbridge District Council took the view that it was an appropriate use and that the buildings would enhance the Shaldon Conservation Area.
