View NW, towards the Cheadle Junction (CLC), Skelton Junction and Warrington: ex-Midland loop from the Cheshire Lines Glazebrook - Stockport line. The train is passing Cheadle Heath North Box, controlling the junction with the main ex-Midland line from Manchester Central (closed 6/3/67) which is visible behind it, Cheadle Heath Station being off to the right. This Summer Saturdays express, headed by Stanier 5MT 4-6-0 No. 44831 (built 1944, withdrawn 11/67), took an unusual route from Chester, turning off the GW & LNW Joint line at Warrington Arpley and following the LNW line through Lymm to join the CLC line at Skelton Junction; from Cheadle Heath it made for Chinley then by the Hope Valley line to Sheffield.
