A real idiosyncrasy, the creation of watchmaker, John Dyson, in 1876 (though behind his elaborate stucco are two C17th houses). The listing observes that the, "gilded time ball mechanism was linked to Greenwich and dropped at exactly 1pm each day; this feature, together with the window mechanism, makes Dyson's a rare survival of elaborate Victorian/Edwardian shop innovation and design." Grade II* listed. The ground floor is now an Indian restaurant. It was still Dyson's in the late 1990s.
