A small bronze statue of Samson, a bearded figure dressed in a loincloth, stands on a circular stone plinth on a square stepped base in Tredegar Grounds park, viewed from the Tredegar Street side. A plaque dated June 22nd 1897 records that the park was given to the inhabitants of the parish of Risca by the Right Honourable Lord Tredegar as a Diamond Jubilee Gift. The statue was erected by public subscription to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and in grateful recognition of Lord Tredegar's generosity. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3822112 to a closer view.
