View NW, towards Rugby, Crewe etc.: West Coast Main Line. This is one of numerous Specials which passed me on my memorable walk along the track in 1957 (see for example Image]). This is near Denbigh Hall Box, the locomotive being Stanier/Ivatt No. 44686 (built 4/51, withdrawn 10/65), one of the few fitted not only with roller-bearings but a double-chimney and Caprotti valve gear.
