The hostel stands beside Scalby Beck (Sea Cut). Hopefully, the building will have a continuing use for educational purposes. Scarborough Youth Hostel opened in 1935 with its first owner and warden, Mrs Atkinson in charge. She eventually sold the business to the Youth Hostel Association.
