The Grade II Listed station building was constructed in 1846 for the Midland Railway in the Italianate style. It takes its name from the nearby castle and is a stop on the Nottingham to Lincoln route, although the building is no longer used as part of the station facilities. The lettering above the door still reads 'Castle Station Wine Bar', a venture that closed some years ago.
