The elaborate roof timbers here could well be from Basingwerk Abbey, which was trashed during the Reformation, the timbers being transported here at some time shortly thereafter. No definite proof but that's the local tale. Incredibly hospitable church congregation - they invited two walkers in for Battenburg cake (always a winner) and coffee after we just popped in to mooch about.
