Situated in Dunfermline's historic Maygate, Abbot House, with its pink walls, is one of the most distinctive as well as possibly the oldest building in the town. The house dates back to 1450 and in its time it has been an Abbot's home, a laird's mansion, an iron foundry an art school and a doctor's surgery. Since 1991 it has been run as a heritage centre by Dunfermline Heritage Trust.
