The street at the centre of this view is Victoria Road, located at SD 990 278. Above it can be seen examples of Hebden Bridge famous double decker houses. The lack of flat land, and the desire to squeeze as many houses in as possible led to the construction of these unique properties. These consist of two properties stacked on top of each other - an 'underdwelling' accessed from the bottom, and an 'overdwelling' accessed from the street above.
