Joe Payne began his football career playing for Bolsover Colliery and lived in a now demolished house close to this spot. However, it's unlikely that he sank any celebratory jars in this pub after his extraordinary goalscoring performance as he was playing for Luton Town at the time. Still a true local hero who also scored twice in his one and only England appearance.
