Although one of the central planks of Modernist architecture - and I reckon this building pretty much qualifies as Modernist (as in, it's not Jacobean, Elizabethan, Georgian, Victorian or Art Deco, and was probably built in the 1960s) - was its rejection of ornament, at least some of its practitioners, perhaps those who were less philosophically minded and more commercially minded, were not above a bit of prettification. The greenish spandrels of this building are actually composed of lots of small, multi-coloured tiles (Image]). The building is currently used by BHS.
