The brewery's name comes from one of its past owners, the Reverend James Buckley who, after inheriting the brewery managed it alongside his clerical duties. After just over 199 years of brewing on this site, this brewery closed in 1998 after merging with the Cardiff based S.A. Brain. Thankfully, as it is a listed building, renovation work is currently underway rather than the demolition that has occurred in the last few years to many of the buildings that formed part of Llanelli's heritage.
