The houses on the left are at Greatstone-on-Sea and around the bend of the bay are the buildings of Littlestone-on-Sea. One origin of the two names is that the larger stones carried along by the current coming up the coast were deposited first at Greatstone, whilst the smaller ones were carried further to Littlestone.
