The chalk downs rise steeply on the northeast side of the Caterham valley, and this path takes a diagonal route upwards. The 407 is a regular bus service along the A22 Godstone Road. Note the bollards and island, the only concessions to pedestrians who wish to cross this very busy road. There is a campaign demanding a pedestrian crossing.
