Numbers 4 to 6 are on the left whilst 7 to 10 are straight ahead. The former were built around 1867-68 the latter 1869-70 and were originally known as Pickfield the name of the field they were built in. The cottages were built for the workers of two pits, Brigdens located on the southern side of mount Caburn and Balcomb, located to the immediate south of Glynde station. Although they have always been associated with the village of glynde the cottages were built in the old parish of Beddingham.
