The small housing estate of Dunelm Court was built on the site of Ivy House which was in 1861 one of the first purpose-built work-houses in the country. It was demolished in 1992 and the terrace facing Station Road was rebuilt in the style of the original Ivy House frontage in 1993. http://www.sedgefield.net/hertrail/ivyhouse.html
