The Transport Interchange at Warrington opened in 2005, replacing a smaller bus terminus nearby. Most of the buses in this image are in the red and cream colours of Warrington Borough Transport (Network Warrington), a bus company owned by Warrington Borough Council. In years gone by, many medium and large-sized towns and cities had a council-owned company providing local bus services. Many of these companies have been sold to the private sector but Warrington Borough Transport is one of a small number which survive in municipal ownership.
