Viewed from King's Road, the A259, with the Old Ship Hotel to the left and the Thistle Hotel to the right. Further down the street on the right hand side are the council offices built as part of the development that included the hotel in the mid 1980s replacing the old market place that had moved to Circus Street during the 1930s and was little more than a car park. The street is named after a former 16th century brewery.
