The water level in the River Glen is somewhat reduced as presumably the parallel Counter Drain is taking much of the flow - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2632207. The Macmillan Way long distance path from Abbotsbury in Dorset to Boston follows the right hand bank here. This is typical Fen country with wide open skies, a straight river disappearing into the distance with banks raised above the surrounding land, and isolated farms and houses. The Counter Drain is away to the right and between the Glen and the Counter Drain are the Counter Drain Washes.
