After the first three days of October have seen temperatures well into the 20s and there hasn't been a cloud in the sky, these unusual conditions have come to an abrupt end in the last hour or so. It was still hot and sunny at 5 o'clock but an hour later the wind has got up, the sun has gone in and the temperature suddenly feels more normal for the time of year.
