Killin Youth Hostel was opened in a former doctor's house, Tighndhuin, in 1942, and ran without disruption until early in 2008, amassing some 320,000 overnight stays. Tighndhuin was demolished earlier in 2011 in favour of a development of 14 new homes on the site.
