A fairly recent housing development. The Edwardian mansion Scotby House has been extended and converted to flats, and several new houses built in the grounds. In the late 20th century Scotby House was a police divisional HQ. During the first world war, it was a Red Cross hospital - there is a photo of this on Cumbria Image Bank http://cumbriaimagebank.org.uk/ .
