Looking across the junction of St. Michael's Road onto Commercial Road, with a faded advertisement on the corner premises now occupied by Betfred the bookmakers. It appears that the advert may have been superimposed onto an earlier one. I stood here for a couple of minutes trying to make out what it said - it finishes with the words BUTCHERS and (less certainly) FRUITERERS, but I really couldn't make out the company name across the top. The Kelly's Directory of 1975 answers that particular question and the name is W.H. Vye & Sons - what I thought was FRUITERERS is actually POULTERERS.
