The Episcopal church of St.Cross is on the site where the 'Bloody Battle of Stalc', probably from Stalcaire, (Stalker) was fought in 1468. Here Dougal Stewart of Appin defeated a MacDougall,Campbell and MacFarlane alliance. They had conspired to murder his father at his second marriage in 1463. The church was built in 1809 and restored in 1898.
