Image: © Albert Bridge Taken: 23 Sep 2011

Part of a redeveloped street, running uphill from near the town centre, in the direction of Ballynahinch. The houses show how an architect can (successfully) approach the problem of building new “social” housing while maintaining some of the character of the old street. The building line has been maintained but the roof, on each house, is at a different height reflecting the hill on which the street stands. Plain exteriors are relieved by the different styles of doorways and the varied colours in which the houses are painted. One house is in the style of an old urban cottage Image
