A fourth lane is being added on the far side. Meanwhile, southbound traffic is confined to the two outer lanes and, for cars not leaving to the A13, the fast lane of the opposite carriageway. Northbound traffic is using the two slower lanes and the hard shoulder. Bunting is strung over the road works to warn crane drivers of the overhead power lines.
