Ballyards viaduct carried the Armagh, Keady and Castleblaney line across what is now called the Ballyards Road. The line has the distinction of being one of the shortest-lived in Ireland. It opened in sections between 1908 and 1910. The Keady-Castleblaney section closed completely in 1923. Armagh-Keady lost its passenger service in 1932 and closed completely in 1957. The course of the line is still visible on the satellite photograph.
