Firefighters Monument

This monument statue of a firefighter erected in 2001 stands outside Grand Central Hotel on the corner of Gordon Street and Hope Street near to the Glasgow Central Station. The wooden cross and poppy is a reminder of the recent 10th anniversary of 911 and reads 9-11, F.D N.Y (which is the Fire Department of New York), in remembrance 343, 10 years. http://www.rampantscotland.com/glasgow/glw_firemen.htm. The 343 refers to the number of firefighters who lost their lives in New York on 9-11 http://nyfd.com/9_11_wtc.html
