View SE, towards St Albans and London: ex-Midland St Pancras - Leicester and the North main line. The view is from the lane eastwards off the A6 at Childwick Hall to Ayre's End and Amwell. The 14.20 St Pancras - Leicester, headed by Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 No. 44853 (built 1944, withdrawn 6/1967 after spending its life at Leeds Holbeck), is, perhaps unusually, on the Down Slow line.
