View northward, towards Gloucester etc.: ex-Midland Birmingham - Bristol main line, with ex-GW Gloucester etc. - Swindon line on far side. The locomotive is 4-6-0 No. 44746, a post-war modified Stanier Class 5 with Caprotti valve-gear, built 8/48 and withdrawn 2/64.
