Seen from The High Street, this view looks along Market Place towards the Church of St Peter and St Paul. This was the ancient centre of Charing where the church and the Archbishop's Palace were located. The house further down on the right with the chimneys was the workhouse. The street widens out slightly beyond this for the site of the former market.
