New housing at The Maltings, Hambledon

The sign by Bargate Homes describes this newly built housing site as The Old Brewery. However the road to the left in front of the house is officially named The Maltings. The site was formerly Image The sales brochure for the site helpfully explains the history of the site. Apparently Francis Hartridge bought the brewery for £2,200 in 1896. The brewery was demolished by German bombs in 1940 and later resurrected as a soft drinks factory. The Hartridges sign is retained on the right corner of the house in the photo. These new homes, built by Bargate Homes in partnership with Burton Property, are described as "a unique collection of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes in this picturesque village in the heart of Hampshire". At time of photographing, the Bargate web site offered a 1 bedroom first floor apartment for £174,950, a 2 bedroom ground floor apartment for £234,950, a 2 bedroom terraced house for £269,950 and 4 bedroom detached houses for between £499,950 and £574,950. A total of 28 new properties are being built on the site in two phases.
