This magnificent archway is a sign of Victorian confidence. It is all that is left of Broadfield's Mill, built around 1844. At first it was owned by Berry and Crowther, which became Henry Crowther& Sons. In 1914 Gledhill Bros moved in, and the mill ending up as Kaye and Stewarts. The mill building has gone and an entrance made more suited to modern vehicles.
