One of the more assertively modern livery halls, designed by Basil Spence (best known for Coventry Cathedral) in 1968 and built 1972-76. Pevsner comments that the white paint suggests a "faltering confidence in the aesthetic qualities" of concrete. In other words, not as assertive as it might have been. An interesting combination of blocks, the cantilevered projection housing the staircase. From their origins in the medieval salt trade, the company has shifted its focus to education related to chemistry and chemical industries.
