The date 1854 shows that this was one of the first houses to be built on Green Lane, then called The Old Lane, as otherwise only Woodhouse and a group of houses at Little Bradley are shown on the 1850 six-inch map. Further information reveals that the JMM may refer to a Jonathan Morton who is shown on the registered deeds, see below: A Conveyance dated 2 June 1853 made between (1) Ely Etherington and (2) Jonathan Morton contains restrictive covenants but neither the original deed nor a certified copy or examined abstract thereof was produced on first registration.
