Epping is now the furthest extremity of London Underground's Central Line. The line used to carry on beyond Epping to Ongar, but that section was closed in 1994. Of the two tracks which pass under the bridge, the one on the left was a siding while the line to Ongar was the one on the right, curving away beyond the bridge.
